The Mangrove forests of Vietnam have gone through difficult times and still face many threats. Devastated by the Agent Orange during the war, sacrificed to the benefits of industrial shrimp farming, and regularly damaged by typhoons, Mangroves however are being reborn in protected areas.

Vietnamese people have realized that this natural heritage is to be preserved. Biologists and ecologists have revealed the fascinating adaptations of the living in this extreme environment. They have showed that Mangrove forests play a key role in coastal ecosystems, being a green wall against oceanic storms, and a shelter for many wild species.
